Neighborhoods
Looking for a fun community to join on MyMiniLife? You can think of neighborhoods like groups. They are very similar in nature. With neighborhoods, you can join several times. You can add as many MiniHomes to a given neighborhood as you like. Read below to find out more about neighborhoods.
General
You can join any open group. These groups can be found by searching in the top right corner of any page, or using the special neighborhoods search found on any neighborhoods page. Alternatively, you can browse for new neighborhoods to join from the
Neighborhoods page. When you find the neighborhood that you are looking for, click on the "join neighborhood" link on the right side of the screen.
Some neighborhoods require administrative approval for you to join. If you try to join these neighborhoods, you will have to wait for an admin to let you in.
Finally, there are some neighborhoods on MyMiniLife that are invitation only. You cannot request to join these. Only an invitation from a neighborhood member will give you access.
You can join a new neighborhood for every MiniHome that you own. You can also add multiple MiniHomes to the same neighborhood.
You will need to find and remove each MiniHome that you have added to a given neighborhood. Click on the MiniHome and select "Remove home from neighborhood". Once you have removed your last MiniHome, you will be removed from that neighborhood's members list.
You can add a home to a neighborhood by clicking on the "Add Home" icon (

) in the neighborhood toolbar at the bottom of the screen. You will be given a dialog with all of your available MiniHomes (note that MiniHomes can only be in 1 neighborhood at a time). Choose the MiniHome you want to place. After the MiniHome information is retrieved, you will be able to choose a location to place it.
You can only remove a home if you own the home or are an administrator for a neighborhood with the ability to edit the neighborhood's layout.
When you are viewing the neighborhood, click on the home you wish to remove to bring up a menu. This menu has the option to "Remove Home". Note that this action is NOT reversible.
You can only move a home if you own the home or are an administrator for a neighborhood with the ability to edit the neighborhood's layout.
When you are viewing the neighborhood, click on the home you wish to move to bring up a menu. This menu has the option to "Move Home". Note that this action is NOT reversible.
Currently we do not support rotation of homes due to performance considerations. However, we plan to allow users to rotate their homes in the future and will release more information once this functionality is available.
MiniHome images automatically update when you save your home. There is, however, a delay between saving your home and the image updating in the neighborhood. This will happen automatically, though, and no user action is necessary.
If you wish to force an update of your MiniHome image in a neighborhood, go to the neighborhood and click on the MiniHome. There will be an option to "Regenerate Identity"
Neighborhoods automatically expand once enough homes are placed within it. Once the neighborhood detects that the amount of available space has fallen below a certain amount, the borders of the neighborhood will extend allowing more space to be used for placing homes.
Administration
You can create a new neighborhood from the
Create Neighborhood page.
You can invite your friends by clicking on the "Invite a Friend" link found on the neighborhood page. Your friend list will show up in this list. Click on a friend to add them to the invite list. Type in a message and click Send and an invitation will be sent to everyone on the invite list.
Currently you can only send up to 10 invites per day. This rate limit may change in the future.
When you create a neighborhood, you have the option of making it as open or exclusive as you wish. There are currently three different access levels:
- Public: For public neighborhoods, everyone on MyMiniLife can join. We also allow anyone to invite others to join the neighborhood. Everyone will be able to see and interact with the neighborhood.
- Closed: You must request to join a closed neighborhood; however, you will need to wait for an administrator to approve your request. Anyone can see these neighborhoods, but only members can interact with them. Once you become a member, you will be able to fully interact with this neighborhood.
- Private: You must be explicitly invited to this neighborhood in order to join. Membership is invite-only. Non-members will not be able to see or interact with this neighborhood. Once you are a member, you will be able to fully interact with this neighborhood.
Neighborhood administrators can change these options at any time by clicking on "Administrate" from the neighborhoods page.
If you are a neighborhood admin, you can add more admins to share neighborhood privileges. Please go to the neighborhood page and click on "edit" in the Officers section on the right side. Alternatively, you can reach this page by clicking on Administrate from the neighborhoods page. Then clicking on "Officers" at the top. You will be able to page through the group members and add new officers as you see fit.
When you add a member as an officer, you will have several privileges that you can grant them with:
- Title: You can give the member a specific title in the neighborhood. Their name along with their title will be displayed on the officers list.
- General admin: These privileges allow a user to edit the picture and description of a neighborhood, along with it's privacy settings.
- Can remove and ban users: These privileges allow users to make new members officers as well as remove and ban existing users from the neighborhood.
- Can send bulletins: These allow a user the ability to send bulletins to the members.
- Edit Neighborhood Layout: This allows a user to move existing homes around in the actual Neighborhood.
You can grant any or all of these permissions to a member when you make them an admin. If there are no admins currently available for the neighborhood, then anyone may assume the role.
Sorry, but once a neighborhood is created, the name can't be changed.
Once you left the neighborhood, the other members were offered the administrative position. If you view the neighborhood, you will see a list of current admins on the right side of the page. They have the power to grant administrative privileges, so you can ask them to restore your status.
You will be able to delete a neighborhood once it is empty (no members). If you created the neighborhood or are one of the neighborhood's administrators, the easiest way to delete the neighborhood is to remove all members, go to the general edit page for the neighborhood, and click the delete neighborhood button found at the bottom of this page.
You can only rename roads if you are an administrator of a neighborhood and have the privilege to edit the neighborhood's layout.
Click on a road in the neighborhood to bring up a menu. This menu has the option to "Edit Road Information". You can then type in a new name for the road.
You can only change the lot tile and road tile for the neighborhood if you are an administrator for the neighborhood and have the privilege to edit the neighborhood's layout.
Click on the "Settings" icon (

) in the bottom right corner. This will bring up a dialog that lets you see the current lot and road tile selections and then change them using a tile selector dialog.
Communication
You can leave comments by going to the neighborhood page and typing in your comment at the bottom. When you are finished, be sure to click "Post" otherwise your comment will not show up.
You can post a bulletin by clicking on the "new" link in the Bulletins section on the neighborhoods page. Alternatively, you can post a bulletin by clicking on the Administrate link on your neighborhoods page. From here, click on "Bulletins" at the top and finally on "Send new Bulletin". You will have the option to send an email notification to all members of the neighborhood as well. Please do not spam bulletins to the members of your neighborhood or your bulletin sending privileges may be permanently revoked.
You can leave comments by clicking on the "Comment" link at the end of the bulletin. This will take you to the individual bulletin's page where you can engage in a conversation about the bulletin's topic.
